VERLA JUNE RAY NEAGLE

October 19, 1930 ~ July 12, 2019

Verla June Neagle, 88 year old Woodward resident, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 in Vici. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Shannon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Verla June (Ray) Neagle was born on October 19, 1930 in Harmon, Oklahoma to Pearl Virgil and Geraldine Alta (Lewis) Ray. Verla grew up on a farm east of Harmon in her early years until her family moved to Woodward. She attended Woodward schools and graduated from Woodward High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to John Dale Neagle on December 25, 1948 in Woodward, Oklahoma. Verla and Dale lived with her parents in Woodward after their marriage until Dale built their fist home at 104 E. Webster a few blocks away. They moved to North Wilksboro, North Carolina where they ran a Tastie Freeze for a while before moving back to Woodward where she worked at the Woodward Sale Barn for several years. They also lived in Vici, Okeene, and later moved back to Woodward.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Woodward. Verla enjoyed dancing, making crafts with her hands, working in her flower beds, and yard work. She loved family get togethers and being with her children and grandchildren. She loved going with her family to camp in the mountains.

She is survived by two sons, Greg Neagle and wife Cathy of Wagoner, Steve Neagle and wife Brenda of Vici; daughter-in-law Lisa Neagle of Wagoner, Oklahoma; four grandchildren: Trent Neagle, Cory Neagle, Amber Burge, and Byron Neagle; great-grandchildren, Rylee Burge, Eden Neagle, Bailee, and Zane; brother-in-law Donald Caldwell; other relatives and friends.

Verla was preceded in death by her husband, John Dale Neagle; parents, one son, Troy Neagle, two sisters, Pearline Alta Caldwell and Delva Ilene Harmon, and brother-in-law Clair Norman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
