Pamela Beth McCaskey , 80 year old Dewey resident passed away at Dewey Medicallodge on May 20, 2025 in Dewey , Ok. Funeral services will be held Friday May 30, 2025 at 2pm at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel, Woodward, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held the day of the service starting at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward.
Pamela Beth ( Robinson) McCaskey was the first daughter born on August 25, 1944 to Hugh William Robinson Jr. and Juanita Louise (Litton) Robinson in Freedom ,OK. she attended Woodward schools and graduated in 1962 from Woodward High School. She married the love of her life J.C. McCaskey on Sept. 1 1962 at the Methodist Church in Woodward, Ok.
They lived in Alva, Ok. They later moved and She enrolled in Central State University where she majored in English and minored in Library Science she was listed on the Dean and President's honor roll. She completed her student teaching at U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1968.
She began her teaching career as high school librarian in DeSoto, Kansas while she was there she chaired the North Central Evaluation committee for accreditation.
In Wichita Kansas on April 28 , 1973 she gave birth to their only child a girl , Paige. They moved around a lot due to J.C. retail jobs. They lived in Oklahoma City , Tulsa, Bartlesville, Perkins, Edmond, Shreveport Louisiana, Euless, Texas, and Enid, Ok.
She was involved in as homemaker and mother roles for a few years, homeroom mom and worked in secretarial jobs with retail. In 1980 Pam returned to library work serving as Children's Librarian in the Stillwater Public Library. During this time she returned to Central State University and worked on her Library major and received her Librarians certificate. She really believed in learning and continuing her education.
They moved to Edmond and she was hired by Bethany High School in 1983 she served as media specialist and taught English..
In 1984 they moved to Texas and she served as Librarian at Trimble Technical High School. July of 1985 they moved to Enid and she was hired at Billings High School to teach English and served as high school librarian. She received Teacher of the Year in 1989 and applied and got many grants equally up to 10,000 dollars, 9000 dollars and 9000 dollars for 3 years in row for the high school and elementary school over the years under the Media Improvement. She was a member of Classroom Teachers Association, Oklahoma Education Association, Oklahoma Librarians Association and National Education Association.
Later years of her life she served as Librarian at Ringwood Schools and Cimarron Schools. Pam was a member for several years of Oakwood Christian Church and Emmanuel Baptist over the 30 plus years they lived in Enid. She served at church in many ways as VBS Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Women's ministries , and Living Christmas Tree and Choir. She loved reading and studying her Bible and she loved to join book clubs with her friends.
She really loved being with her family and she loved helping her students . She said " Her greatest joy is seeing the puzzled look of a child turn to one of understanding." She loved to help students in the library and help them become good writers as well. In her later years as a librarian she loved reading to the little kids.
In 2021 she and J.C. retired and moved to Dewey , Ok to be near their daughter and her family. She loved her family and loved spoiling her grandsons and granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband J.C McCaskey , her daughter Paige McCaskey Douglas and Son in love David Douglas, her grandsons and granddaughter in love , Landon and Rachel Douglas and Parker Douglas.
She also got to meet one great grandson Knox Elliot Douglas son of Landon and Rachel Douglas. Her Sisters and their husbands Marsha and Anthony DeFlumeri of New Jersey, and Mary Sue and Steve Klinger of Perry , Ok. Her Sister in Law Roberta Morrison, and Ginger Nelson. Many cousins she loved very much. Her nieces and nephews she loved very much.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy Pryor, her in laws , sister in laws Patsy Stephens and Lavonne Smith and her husband and aunt and uncle Ila and Virgil Bishop, and aunt Mary Lou Scott and other aunts , uncles and cousins.
