Gordon Jasper Lawson

Gordon Jasper Lawson was born on June 22, 1922 on the family farm in Harper County, Oklahoma; he was the son of William and Ellen (Smith) Lawson. Gordon attended Fort Supply schools and graduated from Fort Supply High School. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater, Ardennes; Rhineland; and central Europe. He was honorably discharged in November of 1945. Gordon was united in marriage to Treva Jean Gaston on May 16, 1946 in Ashland, Kansas making their home in Woodward. They celebrated more than 65 years of marriage before her passing on June 6, 2011. Gordon and Treva were blessed with two children, Wayne and LaPonna. Gordon worked for Marlatt Automotive as a parts salesman, and continued to farm and ranch his entire life.

He was a member of the Woodward Church of Christ. Gordon was a devoted member taking part in most church activities. Gordon also served his church as minister and deacon.

Gordon enjoyed time spent flying his plane, golfing, being on the farm taking care of his cows. He greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, and great-grand children. He loved watching his grandkids and great-grandkids play ball and enjoyed being at their activities.

Gordon is survived by his son Wayne Lawson and wife Darla; LaPonna Cole and husband Price all of Woodward; five grandchildren, Trenna Anguiano and husband Aaron; Beth Inman and husband Michael; Russell Lawson; Matthew Cole; and Cody Cole and wife Christine; three great-grandchildren, Talyn Inman; Terran Inman; Brooklyn Anguiano; brothers, Lynn Lawson and wife Sharon; Gary Lawson and wife Wilma; other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and brother, Elbert Lawson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vici Church of Christ or the Woodward VFW Post #1335 with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
