Edward Leroy Johns

April 29, 1942 ~ October 13, 2019

Edward Leroy Johns, 77 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Clinton. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Elmwood Cemetery with Reverend Shannon Davis officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Edward Leroy Johns was born on April 29, 1942 in Akron, Ohio to Forest Ray and Elva Marie (Campbell) Johns. As a young child he moved to Sharon, Oklahoma. He was raised on a farm east of Sharon and he attended and graduated from there in 1963. After graduation he went to work for McCoy Tree Trimmers. He purchased a truck and delivered cream to Goldspot Dairy in Enid. He also helped his father with farming. On July 1, 1967 Edward was inducted into the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Port, Louisiana. He later received a medical discharge and came back and worked for the City of Woodward. He also worked in the construction field. Edward later retired and moved to Clinton to the Oklahoma Veterans Center.

He is survived by two sisters Virginia Glover and husband Lewis of Woodward; Opal Hall and husband Jim of Mustang; one brother Frank Johns and wife Elaine of Duncan; nieces and nephews, L.R. Glover, Tammy Aitson, Mary Shain, Susan Gillespie, Pamela Martin; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
