E. A. Hitchcock was born on October 6, 1940 in Woodward, Oklahoma the son of Ethan Allen and Grace “Maxine” (Kennester) Hitchcock. E.A. spent his childhood in Enid, attending Enid Schools and graduated from Enid High School. He then attended Phillips University in Enid. In 1958, he began serving his country in the United States Army, and was Honorably discharged. He worked for the Wonder Bread Company retiring after 34 years of employment. E.A. was owner operator of Handy Corners Convenient Store in the mid 1980's and also Co/Owner of Woodward Pest Control .

He was united in marriage to Carol Hageman on August 26, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada. E.A. and Carol made their home in Woodward.

E.A. enjoyed his family as well as bowling, fishing, and watching OU football.

He is survived by his wife Carol of the home; children, Steve Hitchcock and wife Rhonda of Woodward, Angie Leon and husband Cesar of Enid; Robert Hitchcock and wife Toni of Enid; step-daughter, Cathy Jo Potts and Justin Stevens of Joplin, Mo.; step-son, LeRoy Evans and wife Lucy of Woodward; 14 grandchildren, Travis Hitchcock; Michelle Stavig; Garin Hitchcock; Chance Hitchcock; Chandra Hitchcock; Brandon Jensen; Cory Jensen; Amber Armor; Taylor Evans; Bryce Evans; Bryanna Evans; Nicholas Peacock; Jordan Peacock; Catalina Stevens; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Terry Hitchcock and wife Betty of Maumelle, AR; several other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gregory Paul Hitchcock; one sister, Carol Vandeventer, and one brother, Ronnie Hitchcock.
