BERTIE MAE HAIGHT

Graveside: 1:00 PM Thursday, March 12th, 2015 - Elmwood Cemetery

Bertie Mae Haight, 83 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Elmwood Cemetery with Chaplain Dennis King officiating.

Bertie Mae (Roark) Haight was born on November 28, 1931 in Hamlim, Texas to William Middleton and Bessie (Debois) Roark. She was reared in the Lubbock, Texas area and graduated school there. Bertie was united in marriage to Harold Chandler Haight on November 3, 1946 at the Nazarene Church in Cherokee, Oklahoma. They were blessed with four children, Harold Chandler Jr., Barbara Ann, William Norman, and Donald Gay. They made their home in Cherokee, Oklahoma for a period of time, before moving to Nebraska and Texas. The family moved to Woodward in 1957 and have lived there since that time. Bertie stayed at home with her children and continued to be very active in their lives.

Bertie was a member of the Rebekahs and the Woodward Moose Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and farming. Bertie had a love for animals, especially peacocks. For many years people would come from all over the tri-state area to pick fruit from their orchard which consisted of over 200 fruit trees. Bertie loved being with her friends and family, but her family was her life.

She is survived by two sons, Don Haight of Woodward, Norman Haight and wife Marie of Riverside, California; one daughter, Barbara Buchanan and husband Scott of San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren, Melissa Cheiree` Jones of Meno, Melody Christine Byrd and husband Brian of Hennessey, Marla Cher-lyn Willard and husband Justin of Waukomis, Jean-Paul Beaulieu of Minnesota, Christine, Colleen, and Chad Haight; her great-grandchildren, Michael Jones and wife Brandy, Chasity Harris, Tyler and Trenton Byrd, Grady Willard; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold Chandler Haight Sr., on May 21, 2008, a son, Harold Chandler Haight Jr., in 2005, grandson-in-law, Leroy Jones in 2004, and her grandson, Bobby Haight in 2000.
