Ronald Allen Grunke

July 25, 1960 ~ September 24, 2018

Ron Grunke, 58 year old Woodward resident, died Monday, September 24, 2018 at his home in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Elmwood Cemetery with Chaplain Ron Stone officiating. Burial will follow.

Ronald Allen Grunke was born July 25, 1960 in Portage, Wisconsin to Jim and Norma (Kornele) Grunke. He was the second of three boys. At the age of eight, the family moved to Woodward, where Ron attended public school. As a child he enjoyed time at his grandparents farm and the time spent with his cousins. They loved having dirt clod fights. He was saved at age 13 on his grandfathers front porch, and was baptized at age 15 at the Bible Baptist Church. His faith remained strong throughout his life. As a young man he worked in the oil field.

He married Pamela Kaye Walden on May 16, 1981. From this marriage came three children, Amber Dawn, Weston Dane Walden, and Catherine Jean. The family moved to Canton, Georgia, where Ron drove a truck cross country for 22 years. Once the marriage dissolved he moved back to Woodward. He then worked at Weatherford with his Dad, which made him very happy. Ron loved being with his family, friends, and grandchildren more than anything in the world. He never knew a stranger and everyone he was around knew they were loved. He enjoyed riding his Harley, Two-Stepping, fishing, flirting with pretty ladies, and being an all around jokester. He was absolutely one of a kind.

Ron was very thankful for his oncology team and Hospice care, especially his dear friend, Kayla, who became more like family than a care giver.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Norma Grunke of Woodward. He is survived by his children: Amber Grunke-Guevara and husband Jose of Woodstock, Georgia, Weston Grunke of Woodward, Oklahoma and Catherine Grunke of Dunwoody, Georgia. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Giovanni Sabetazm, Toryn Grunke Guevara, and his (Heartstrings) Lynden Grunke Guevara. Other surviving family members include John and Carmen Grunke, Danny Grunke, many nieces and nephews and self adopted family.
