LADON COVALT

January 20, 1970 - February 2, 2018

LaDon Rae Covalt, 48 year old Woodward resident, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 in Woodward surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ed Dowty officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

LaDon Rae Covalt was born on January 20, 1970 in Woodward, Oklahoma to William Daniel and Linda Ellen (Baird) Covalt. The family made their home in Woodward and later moved to Sharon in 1981. LaDon attended grade school at Horace Mann schools and graduated from Sharon-Mutual High School in 1988. She attended college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and was in her last semester at the time of her accident. LaDon would have graduated with her degree in Literature. She wanted to be a school teacher. While she was attending Northwestern, she worked at both the Woodward and Alva Wal-Marts.

As a child, LaDon attended Crown Heights Baptist Church, but she attended churches of all denominations. LaDon enjoyed running track in high school, basketball, and poetry. Robert Frost was her favorite poet. She loved babies and her friends and family.

She is survived by one sister, Lissa Holley and husband Ron of Woodward; one brother, Bill Covalt and wife Melba of Woodward; nephews, Jason and Bryan Baker, and Ronnie Holley; great-nieces and nephews, Sammy, Bastion, and Jackson Baker, Timber Baker; her precious care givers throughout the years: Aunt Xyla Hathaway, Carrie Hathaway, Brenda Allen, Kendra Ellington, Linda Ellis, Sam Doorneck, Melba Covalt, Halley Johnson, Beth Baker, Jessie Lalicker, LaWanda Albin, Sarah Pratt; her parents, Linda and Bill, and her brother and sister, Lissa and Bill; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Traumatic Brain Injury research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
