Bobby Ray Buss

buss-b-r
December 13, 1938 ~ September 25, 2022

Bobby Ray Buss went to his eternal home on September 25, 2022, after a courageous battle with dementia.

Bobby was born to Dick and Vera (Snider) Buss on December 13, 1938, in Buffalo, Oklahoma. Bobby was part of a large family which included eight siblings, who he loved dearly. His parents passed while he was still very young. In fact, his dad died when he was nine and his mother passed when he was only 14 years old. However, Bobby was focused and determined to make it in this world. He worked diligently by holding down two jobs to make ends meet. His determination helped him graduate from Buffalo High School and he was selected as the school's best athlete and dancer. He was such a gifted football player that newspapers labeled him as "bounding Bobby Buss" because he blasted for touchdowns each game. After high school, Bobby earned a football scholarship and attended Garden City Junior College, where he continued to play the position of running back.

When Bobby was 21, he met the love of his life, Ramona. He was so much in love that when he received his army draft notice, he asked Ramona to marry him. She obviously said yes, they eloped, and were married on July 29, 1960. Bobby and Ramona were happily married for 62 years and had three children: Rodney, Rhonda, and Christy.

Bobby held several jobs throughout his married life. In fact, he often worked all day, came home, worked a second job, and then attended his children's sporting events. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years, but spent most his work life at ANR Pipeline, where he retired with the title of Foreman at the age of 56. After his well-earned early retirement, Bobby started his own construction business. Buss Construction thrived because of his brilliant building skills and tireless work ethic.

Bobby's faith was an essential part of his life and he was a loyal servant to the Lord. He was a Deacon, lead the Royal Ambassador program, and taught Sunday School classes. Bobby was unafraid to share his faith with others, hoping they would know the same Jesus he knew.

Through the years, Bobby enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and socializing with family and friends.

He will be missed by his wife, Ramona; sister, Ruby; children, Rodney (Sally), Rhonda (Lorraine), Christy (Eric); grandchildren; Brayden, Chase, Riley, Kyle, Koen, Savannah; great-grandchildren; Wyatt, Fielder, Nora; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Vera; siblings, Vonnie, Don, Audrey, Marvin, Veda Ruth, Dickie, and Jackie.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bobby's name to the Alzheimer's Association. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
