Interment: Friday, December 30th, 2016 - Elmwood Cemetery

J.D. Burgess, 82 year old Fort Supply resident, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Alliance Health Woodward. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Jessie Dallas Burgess was born on April 20, 1934 in Ellis County, Oklahoma to Dallas Clifton and Lavern (Harvey) Burgess. J.D. grew up in the Ft. Supply and the May area. He attended school in May and later graduated from Ft. Supply High School in 1951. He was united in marriage to Aldene Long on June 24, 1956 in Ft. Supply, Oklahoma. They have lived in Ft. Supply since that time. J.D. was a carpenter and he also worked at the Western State Hospital. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Ft. Supply Fire Department and served as the Assistant Fire Chief.

He was a member of the Church of God Holiness in May. J.D. enjoyed carpentry, especially building children’s toys. He loved watching ball games, and fishing, but most of all he loved being with his family. He treasured the times with his family, especially his grandson, Chris Burgess and great-grandson Gauge Burgess.

He is survived by his wife Aldene Burgess of the home; two sons: Jerry Burgess and wife Sarah of Piedmont, Jimmy Burgess of Ft. Supply; one sister Vera Pierce and husband Bill of Amarillo, Texas; one grandson, Christopher Burgess of Piedmont; one great-grandson, Gauge Burgess of Piedmont; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Albert, Vern, George, and Carl, and two sisters-in-law, Thelma and Virginia Burgess.

Memorials may be made to the Church of God Holiness in May with the funeral home accepting the contributions of behalf of the family.
