March 27, 1922 - November 13, 2014

Helen Lucille Brodie age 92 of Vici, OK, formerly of Woodward, OK, went to be with her Lord November 13, 2014. The sixth of seven children, she was born March 27, 1922, to John Elmer and Gertrude June (Cardiff) Evans in the Bloomfield area of Dewey County OK. When she was very young, her family re-located to rural Baca County, CO, in 1925.

Helen married the love of her life, Kenneth Eugene Brodie, in Springfield, CO, May 26, 1938. Two daughters were born to this marriage Rebecca and Eugenia. During their married life they moved to several places, Aurora, MO, Lovington, NM, and in their later lives, they returned to their Oklahoma roots, and settled in Woodward, OK. Helen worked at Star Model several years. She always doted on the children in her apartment complex. She soon became known as “Grandma Cookie”.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents John and Gertrude, husband Eugene, son-in-law Alwyn Sloan, grandson Gregg Thompson, granddaughter Katheryn Kiley, and siblings Elmer Evans, George Evans, Hazel Nicodemus, Ethel Ormiston, and Harold Evans.

She left to mourn her passing, sister Elna Ridgeway of Leawood, KS; daughters Rebecca Ann Sloan of Florence, CO, and Eugenia Thompson and husband Glenn of Woodward, OK; grandchildren Cindy Terrell and husband Greg of Kirk, CO, Sandra Keyte of Florence, CO, Kimberly Holloway and husband Danny of Newalla, OK, and grandson-in-law Edward Kiley; great-grandchildren Guy Terrell and wife Sheena of Idalia, CO, Lacey Moen and husband Bryan of Helotes, TX, Kristyn Kiley of Safford, AZ, Devin Kiley of Florence, CO, Brett Keyte and wife Courtney of Osan Air Base, South Korea, and Cole and Isaac Eichelberger of Newalla, OK; great-great-grandchildren Giselle and Blake Moen, Brady and Kaden Terrell, and Addison Keyte. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, a very special friend Lisa Batt, and a host of other friends.

Services will be held in the chapel of the First Baptist Church in Woodward, OK, Monday November 17, 2014 at 10:00 am. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Woodward, OK. Shaw Funeral Home of Vici, OK is in charge of arrangements.
