Woodward, Okla. — Velma G. Bolin, 85 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 in the Woodward Church of Christ with James Bailey and Jim Rucker officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Velma Goldie Bolin was born on August 6, 1926 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to William Henry and Inis Goldie (Sloan) Wheatley. Velma was reared in the Perry and Stillwater area. She attended and graduated from Eureka schools near Stillwater. Velma was united in marriage to Andrew J. "Andy" Bolin on March 14, 1959 in Clayton, New Mexico. They lived in Perryton, Texas before moving to Woodward in the early 1960's. Velma owned and operated the Ponderoso Beauty Salon for over 40 years in Woodward. One of Velma's greatest joys was working in her beauty shop; she took pride in providing the very best service for her customers.

Velma was a member of the Woodward Church of Christ. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking for others, canning and traveling. She loved spending time with her friends and her family.

She is survived by her son Milton Rose and wife Denise of Woodward; one grandson, Nathan Rose and wife Natalie of Woodward; one great-grandson, Kash Rose; two sisters, Geneva Briegge of Perry, Charlene Ann Wheatley of Ponca City; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andy Bolin on May 13, 2002, two sisters, Imogene Bocox, Helen Rainsbarger, two brothers, Sonny Wheatley and William Wheatley, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the W.O.O.F. Pet Rescue or the Church of Christ Library Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions. Remembrances may be shared online at www.billingsfuneralhomewoodward.com
