Helen Colline Batman 87-year-old Woodward resident, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 30, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Woodward Church of Christ with David Heflin officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Helen Colline (Russell) Batman was born November 6, 1933 in a dugout near Purcell, Oklahoma, the daughter of George and Minnie Bertha (Taylor) Russell. She was the 5th of 12 children. She graduated high school at Booker in 1953.
Helen married Benjamin E. Batman on May 27, 1955 in Booker, Texas. They made their home in many places following work before settling in Woodward in the 60's. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and granny. She was adored by her children and her many grandchildren, including her extra grandkids as she called so many.
Helen was a woman of faith and was heavily involved in the Church of Christ where she was a member. She loved Jesus and sought to know him more all throughout her life. She helped with VBS for many years and loved spending time with all the kids. She was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge, serving in many roles during her time. Helen was a skilled seamstress and passed on her talent to many in her family. She worked many years at the Fruit of the Loom factory, Trego's Western Wear and many other places over her lifetime. She loved making clothes & quilts for her kids & grandkids. There was nothing she couldn't sew and when she was teaching you how to sew something, if you messed anything up, she would hand you a seam ripper to redo it! She was known for her love and kindness she showed to all.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life- Ben, in 1994; a son, Eddie Earl Batman, granddaughter Robyn Luinstra and great grandson Jesse James Graham.
She is survived by daughters Minnie Torres and Benita (Doug) Hamaker; Grandchildren Sharina (Chris) Little, Cindy (Luke) Brinson, Benita June Gonzales, Destiny (Justin) Murphy and Dougie Lee. Great- grandchildren Xavier (Ashley) Vo, Olivia (Austin) Burrus, Hayden (Destiny) Vo, Cole (Cheyenne) Hamaker, Fylisha Luinstra, Jessie Little, Christina (Dawson) Taylor, Kimberly Vo, Shaylee Gonzales, Laynee Vo, Anthony Gonzales, Andrew Gonzales, Hailee Brinson, Chevy McCanse, Chandler Murphy, Randi Dawn Graham & Samantha Murphy. Seven great great Grandchildren Shayna & Bennedict Hamaker, Alexander & Paislee Vo, Kennedi & Kolter Taylor and Jayci Lynn Russell. Along with many more family & special friends.
