ANONA DEEN BARNES

October 19, 1949 - February 3, 2018

Anona “Sissy” Deen Barnes, passed away February 3, 2018 in Piedmont, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Anona “Sissy” Deen Barnes was born on October 19, 1949 in Woodward, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of Edward “Wimp” and Viola (Irvin) Brumley. She was the youngest of seven children and spoiled by all. Sissy attended Woodward Public schools as a child.

She was married to John Cain and to this union a daughter, Samantha was born. She later married John Barnes and to this union a son, Bradley and daughter, Brandy were born. Anona loved her family dearly. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Treasure hunts, board games, ball games, and cheer competitions were enjoyed by all.

Sissy also loved her extended family, planning yearly family reunions was a favorite activity, which included making beautiful baskets of treasures to auction at the yearly gathering.

Anona is survived by her daughter, Samantha Tarlton and husband Russell; their children, Romi, all of Piedmont; son, Bradley Barnes of Oklahoma City; daughter, Brandy Penwell and husband Danny; their children, Zoie; Daniel; Claire and Kasey, all of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Anna and Phoenix; siblings, Tim Brumley and wife Bobbi; Reva Parker and husband Eddie; Ramona Buss and husband Bobby; Rita Hale and husband Randy; Alva Hickey and husband Frank, all of Woodward; mother-in-law, Mable Tabor; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wimp and Viola Brumley; husband, John Barnes; sister, Della Cooper, two nephews and a niece.
