William Robert "Bob" Armstrong

Woodward – The funeral for William Robert "Bob" Armstrong, 66, will be at 10 AM Friday in the Garden Chapel of Good Samaritan Funeral Service. The Rev. Douglas Burger will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

He was born may 14, 1927, in Wilson to Lester A. and Maybelle VanHorn Armstrong and died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, at his home in Woodward. The family moved to Woodward in 1932 and he graduated from Woodward high school in 1945. He served in the United States Army during World War I I and attended two years at the University of Oklahoma. He then attended Dallas Institute and Mortuary Service and worked for Hahm – Cook Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.

On September 7, 1953, he married Dorothy Thomas at Oklahoma City. He worked for funeral homes in Carmen and Pampa, Texas, returning to Woodward in 1963. They purchased the Mason Funeral Home and operated it under the name Armstrong Funeral until it sold in 1978. He then was bookkeeper for Long Bell Lumber Company for 10 years.

Armstrong was a member of the First United Methodist Church, past President of the Woodward Key Kiwanis, past exalted ruler of Woodward Elks Lodge and member of the Tornado Fans Club.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Jan Bergen of Arlington, Texas, Jerri Webb of Manassas, Virginia, and Joe Ogden of Woodward; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
