JOHN B. ADAMS

July 21, 1948 - June 9, 2018

John B. Adams, 69 year old Woodward resident, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the Bible Baptist Church with Reverend Jesse Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, with the United States Navy providing military rites. Arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

John Bradley Adams was born July 21, 1948 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to John Henry and Mae (Manor) Adams. John grew up in Fargo, Oklahoma and attended Fargo schools, graduating from Fargo High School with the class of 1966. He received his degree in Auto Mechanics from Oklahoma State Tech in 1968. John was inducted into the United States Navy in 1969 and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1975.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Jean Baker on January 23, 1978 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and remained there. John worked at Goin’s Home Furnishings, REED American, Hodges, and Weatherford ALS until his retirement. He spent his retirement cooking for the kids at Aunt Shirley’s Playhouse which he really enjoyed.

He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. He was also a member of the VFW. John enjoyed going to and watching NASCAR races, spending time with Shirley and being with his children and grandchildren. He loved going to church and spending time with his church family.

John is survived by his son JR Adams and wife Crissy of Sharon; one daughter, Cindy Adams and husband Vic of Woodward; three grandchildren: Deven Adams, Dylan Adams, and Conagher Adams; one brother Tom McKenna of Fargo; sister-in-law, Beverly Chestnut and husband Corky of Woodward; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Milton McKenna, his wife Shirley Adams, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ward and Opal Baker, sisters, Jean Little Charley and Shirley Ware and brothers Jim Adams and Robert Adams.
