Mary Estelle (Barney) Beebe, age 94, of Harrah, OK was born on January 27, 1921, in Mutual, OK. She was the daughter of William Sherman and Delilah Esther (Nelson) Barney. She departed this life on January 13, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Mary began her teaching career in 1942, in Richmond, OK. She also taught in Mutual, OK, Whiteface, TX, and Choctaw, OK, before coming to Harrah in 1969. She taught English at Harrah High School until her retirement in 1984. However, she has remained active through the years as a tutor in English for several students.

She was a faithful member of First Christian Church of Mutual and the United Methodist Church in Harrah where she was an active member of United Methodist Women, until her health failed. She also enjoyed the Bethlehem Sunday School Class. She was a founding member of Harrah Epsilon Phi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota. She was also very active in the Oklahoma County Education Association, and retired teacher organizations at both the county and state level and served on many committees. She belonged to the Nicoma Park Chapter of Eastern Star, was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. For several years she was a member of the KKI Harrah Relay for Life team as she was a 46 year cancer survivor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Donald Beebe in 1965, her parents, two sisters, Esther Hartle and Elsie Ports, two brothers, Alfred Barney and Harold Barney, two nieces, Phyllis Jeane Landon, and Patty Ann Clark and two nephews, Larry Don Thomas and Cole Barney.

Survivors include: caregiver, Starla Smith, eight nieces and nephews and their spouses. They are Mary Alice Bolton, Sue Day, Sheryl Gard, Ann Moss, Gwendalyn Peard, Elaine Wood, Neil Barney, and Mike Barney and several great-nieces and nephews and numerous friends and former students who still love and respect her dearly.

A special thank you to her caretaker, Deborah Goen, for giving her excellent care the last nine months and making it possible for her to stay at home.

Memorials may be made to the Harrah United Methodist Church, 2224 N. Harrison Ave., Harrah, OK 73045.

Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, January 18, 2016 at Harrah United Methodist Church, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Glenda Skinner-Noble and Rev. Randy Little officiating.

Interment will be 4:00 PM, Monday, January 18, 2016, at Dunlap Cemetery, Mutual, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
