Waynoka Cemetery


Funeral services for Teddy Dean Jones will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the Waynoka First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

There will be a visitation with the family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022, at Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Viewing will be in Alva until after the visitation. Viewing will be at Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Online condolences may be made at http://www.marshallfuneralhomes.com.

Teddy Dean Jones, son of the late Ted Sturgeon and Verla Dean (Howell) Jones, was born March 25, 1942, in Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away October 12, 2022, in Waynoka, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 17 days.

Teddy attended Waynoka Schools, then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. On December 16, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Kaaloa Kekauoha, at Kahaku, Hawaii. They made their home in Hawaii, Fairview, Buffalo, and Waynoka working in law enforcement before settling in Alva where he served as the Woods County sheriff for many years. He moved to Waynoka and built a museum about four years ago.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was also a member of the Sheriff's Association, the 101 Museum Board, and the Cowboy Poets Association. He was an avid collector throughout his life.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his son James "Jim" Jones; his sister, Martha Woolley; one grandson, Jack Jones; one granddaughter, Chelsea Jones; and his daughter-in-law, Lori Mays.

Teddy is survived by three sons, Teddy Nahino Jones of Waynoka, Sam Jones and wife, Tamara, of Alva, and William "Bill" Jones and wife, Jody, of Guthrie, eight grandchildren, Breana Easley and husband, Bobby, of Kremlin, Landon Jones of New Zealand, Braden Jones of Oregon, Leimana Jones of Turpin, Kanani Jones of Enid, Kylee Jones of Alva, Zachary Jones of Kremlin, Rhett Jones of Norman, and Jamie McAlister and husband, Josh, of Goltry; five great grandchildren, Jaxon Aragon of Turpin, Laila and Laker Easley, and Cole Dean Jones all of Kremlin; and Riecyn Jones of Alva; a special friend/brother/son, Lawrence Ramirez, of Waynoka; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the funeral home.
