Funeral services for Lois Jones were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Elm and Murrow Church of Christ, Waynoka, with Bill David Walker officiating. Interment followed at the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka.

Lois Ann, daughter of the late Willard and Esther (Naureth) Bay, was born August 4, 1937, in Woods County, and passed away April 17, 2023, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years, 8 months, and 13 days.

While growing up in the Waynoka area she made precious lifelong childhood memories of times shared with her cousins. She graduated from Waynoka High School in 1955 before attending Northwestern State College. Her plan was to major in English education. Once there, a math professor recognized her potential and encouraged her to consider pursuing a math major. Rather than continuing her education, she married in 1956 and started a family, having six children in eight years. She lived in Deming, New Mexico, until 1981 when she returned to her Oklahoma roots, settling in Woodward, Oklahoma. She worked at Goin's Home Furnishings for 18 years before retiring. She relocated to Dumas, Texas, in 2006 to enjoy being a full-time grandmother. In 2013, she moved to Follett, Texas, to continue her time close to some of her family. In 2020, she returned to her hometown of Waynoka, Oklahoma.

Her faith and family were the priorities of her life. She was an avid reader from an early age and enjoyed it throughout her life. For mom, cooking was never a chore but her way of pouring love into her family which her son's thoroughly appreciated. And there was always extra room at her table. As if 6 weren't enough, over the years mom had the opportunity to open her home to several teenagers in need of a safe, nurturing place which influenced their adult lives. Some living with her for months, even years.

After her children were raised and her home empty, Samantha Reed Schasteen entered her life through the Adopt-a-Grandparent program at the Church of Christ in Woodward. They gave and received an abundance of love and support as they developed a deep bond that had an everlasting impact on both of their lives.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her third child, Willard Joseph "Joe" Jones on August 16, 1982, at the age of 20. Joe exuded his mother's fierce independence and protective nature.

She is survived by her children, Johnny Jones and wife, Una, of Waynoka; Carolyn DeShazo and husband, Michael, of Windsor, Colorado; Becky Miskel and husband, Tim, of Georgetown, Texas; Danny Jones and wife, Susan, of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Sam Jones and wife, Laura, of Dumas, Texas; as well as one brother, Gary Bay and wife, Karen, of Woodward; and brother-in-law Max Jones and wife, Ann, of New Boston, Texas.
