ENID — The funeral for Mary L. Glasgow will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at Alva Wesleyan Church. The Rev. John R. Smith will officiate. Burial in Union Center Cemetery. Arrangements by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

Mary Louise, daughter of Lillian R. (Russell) and Ross O. Vore, was born March 12, 1926, in Dacoma, Okla. She passed away in Midland, Texas, Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 12 days.

She attended Dacoma schools and graduated with the class of 1944 and went on to attend Northwestern State College.

Miss Vore was married to Victor Wayne Glasgow on Sept. 20, 1946, in Alva, Okla. To their marriage two children, Teresa and Terry, were born. Wayne passed away Dec. 31, 2000.

Following their marriage they lived in Alva and later moved to Norman. In 1950 the family moved to Bartlesville to make their home. She traveled to Finland with Wayne and the USA Olympics men’s basketball team and watched him receive a gold medal in 1952.

She was a member of East Cross United Methodist Church, Bartlesville.

Mrs. Glasgow was preceded in death by her parents; husband, V.W. Glasgow; brother and his wife, Glen (Buster) and DeDe; sister, Doris Koppitz; and two brothers-in-law, Harlon Goodwin and J.W. Small.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Teresa Shumskie of Midland; son and his wife, Terry and Janet of Sugar Land, Texas; four grandsons, Tyler and Wesley Shumskie of Midland and Marshall and Matthew Glasgow of Sugar Land; sister, Ruth Ann Small of Dacoma; brother-in-law, Merle Glasgow of Moorpark, Calif.; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to her devoted caregivers, Brenda and Salina.

She will lie in state from 6-8 p.m. today.

Contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Midland or The Diabetic Foundation.
