Larry Lynn Van Meter, son of the late Samuel Bryon and Helen Grace (Martin) Van Meter, was born January 30, 1944, at Alva, and passed away September 23, 2022, at Oklahoma City, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 24 days.

Larry grew up in Dacoma and graduated from Dacoma High School. After school, he spent his weekends serving for the National Guard. On November 19, 1965, he was united in marriage to Peggy Louise (Littrell) at the Green Valley Free Methodist Church, where they attended.

After marriage, they lived in Dacoma while he worked for a farmer. During this time, Peggy gave birth to their daughter Denise. They moved to Burlington, Oklahoma, and he worked at the local elevator. On their Saturday nights, they enjoyed square-dancing and playing cards with friends. Then they moved to Enid, Oklahoma, and he worked for Gold Spot hauling milk.

After several years, they moved to Alva, and Larry hauled cement blocks for Alva Concrete. While living in Alva, their second daughter, Teresa, was born. He continued this job while they moved to Hopeton, Oklahoma. Their next move was to Carmen, Oklahoma, where he worked in the oilfield over 40 years. Larry and Peggy's final move was to his childhood home outside Dacoma, where he continued working for a local farmer.

Larry and his wife Peggy were married for 56 years. Larry enjoyed spending his time watching bull riding and other various sports programs. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He spent several years custom combining and helping family with harvest. He was an incredibly hard worker and never wanted to be idle.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Helen, and three brothers, Corwin, Bob, and Bill (Mary).

Larry is survived by his wife, Peggy of Dacoma; two daughters, Denise Enge and her husband, John, of Ellendale, North Dakota, and Teresa Deutschendorf and her husband, Scott, of Fairview, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Mandy (Van Meter) Pekrul and her husband, B.J., Brady Enge, Jacob Enge, Bailey (Deutschendorf) Coppock and her husband, Nick, Ashley Enge, Braden Deutschendorf, and Sarabeth Enge; five great grandchildren, Heidi, Jaiden, Devin, Willow, and Billy; other relatives and friends.
