Woodward News

Woodward, Okla. — Graveside services for Donald D. Silagy, 74, Prague, Oklahoma and former Woodward resident, will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Hill Cemetery, Waynoka, on Monday, July 25, 2011. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Billings Funeral Home in Woodward.

Donald D. Silagy was born on January 24, 1937 in Danville, Illinois to Elsie Fetters and Louis Silagy and went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2011.

Don was in construction all his life. He will be best known for his love for God. He was a really nice guy. He loved his daughters and loved his wife. He was hard working, happy to do good for others. He was a published poetry writer and unknown short story author. He wrote stories for fun, which inspired family and friends alike to live, laugh and love, in fact he was his own character, just like "Zipit" a smiling frog.

He is survived by his five daughters and son-in-laws, Vicki and Mitch Gregory of Edmond, Pamela Silagy of Ada, Dawn and Kris Morrison of Ada, Melissa Silagy of New York, Stephanie Sills of Oklahoma City; four step-children, Mark and Rosetta Means, Jay and Patricia Means, Diane Means, Elizabeth Carrillo; nine grandchildren, Joe Dansby, Josh, Jake, and Krissy Foran, Jared and Justin Morrison, Luke Sills, Brittany and Jarah Glover; two great-grandchildren, Kolter and Hadliegh; several step-grandchildren; a brother, Robert "Butch" Silagy and his family of Summerfield, Florida; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Betty Jean Silagy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Quinlan United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
