Memorial Hill Cemetery


The funeral for Gerald Edward “Pete” Nutter, 81, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Waynoka First Baptist Church. The Rev. John Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka.

He was born Aug. 30, 1928, north of Waynoka to Albert Fair and Abbie Elizabeth Cell Nutter and died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, in Alva.

He attended Rose Valley Elementary School and graduated from Waynoka High School in 1947.

He served in the Air Force and graduated with a letter of commendation from Far East Air Force Medical Training School in1952. He worked as an x-ray technician in Japan and in Lubbock, Texas.

He married Ruth Ella Golbek July 21, 1955. They moved to a farm north of Waynoka, where he farmed and ranched. He worked as a contract pumper for several companies over the years. He and his brother helped pioneer the ostrich industry in the 1980s in Woods County.

He attended Morning Star Baptist Church most of his life and later had membership at Northside Church of Christ, Hopeton Wesleyan Church and Waynoka First Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth, of Alva; four daughters, Cathy Hummel, Karen Watson and Sharon Inman, all of Waynoka, and Ellie Waggoner of Tulsa; four brothers, Aaron Nutter of Enid, Donald Nutter and Paul Nutter, both of Waynoka, and Larry Nutter of Crescent; two sisters, Alberta Bissantz and Linda Strohmeyer, both of Waynoka; and nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, three brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Samaritan’s Purse.

RUTH ELLA NUTTER - 76 - WAYNOKA

Funeral services for Ruth Ella Nutter will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at the Waynoka First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Memorial Hill Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC.

Ruth Ella Nutter, daughter of the late Otto and Georgia Irene (Shearer) Golbek, was born Feb. 13, 1938, in Woods County, Okla., and passed away June 13, 2014, at Alva, Okla., at the age of 76 years and 4 months.

Ruth attended Manilla School and Waynoka High School. On July 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to Gerald Edward “Pete” Nutter in Alva. They made their home on the farm north of Waynoka. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Waynoka Nursing Home, at Smitty’s IGA Store, the Dairy Maid, and on the family farm. Some of her farm duties were milking cows, tractor driving and animal care, including baby ostriches.

She was an excellent cook, providing many meals for farm-hands, and an immaculate homemaker who was devoted to her husband and children. She was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church until it closed. She also attended the Northside Church of Christ, Hopeton Wesleyan Church and the Christian Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; two daughters, Ellie Waggoner and Cindy Ann Nutter; one brother, Floyd Golbek; and one sister, Mary Haltom.

Ruth is survived by three daughters, Cathy Hummel and husband Sam of Waynoka, Karen Watson of Waynoka, Sharon Inman and husband James of Waynoka; one sister, Elsie Shipley and husband Marvin of Alva; nine grandchildren, Shawna McKinley of Waynoka; Bobby Watson and wife Raychel of Waynoka; Tonya Esquibel of Alva; Josh Inman and wife Alyssa of Waynoka; Whitney Gum and husband Garret of Guthrie; Chelsea Bixler and husband Blake of Midland, Texas; Taylor Waggoner of Waynoka; Payton Smith of Tulsa; and Connor Smith of Redlands, Calif.; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Share Convalescent Center activity fund.
