ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Nena May Wardrop will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Freedom United Methodist Church. The Revs. Scott Ware and Woody Hammon will officiate. Interment will be in Freedom Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

Nena May, daughter of Lewis and Ida (Prigmore) Olson, was born April 21, 1929, in Freedom, Okla. She passed away at her home on Tuesday, the 9th day of April, 2013, at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 19 days.

She attended school at Hillcrest and graduated from Freedom High School with the class of 1947.

On Dec. 27, 1947, she was married to Foy Wardrop.

She drove a school bus for Centerview and Freedom for 28 years. She drove the bus and worked at Alva Vo-Tech for 18 years. For the past 23 years she has cleaned 2 miles of Highway 64 along their farm for the State Adopt a Highway Program.

She made numerous quilts for charity, schools, friends and family, as well as a spending numerous hours baking for others in her kitchen.

Nena belonged to the Cimarron Neighbors Club for 55 years and was a member of Freedom United Methodist Church and Cimarron Cowboys Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wilber Olson; a sister, Mildred Olson; and a great-granddaughter, Reagan Marie Crouch.

Nena is survived by her husband, Foy; her children and their spouses, Doyle and Dr. Kay Decker, Connie Brown, Jana and Dr. Dan Stein, and Jill and Donnie Elmore; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Travis McNabb, Kendra Wardrop and Adam Barrilleaux, Tara and Rob McCollough, Jennifer and Dale Crouch, Danny and Tiffany Whittet, Dustin and Robyn Elmore, Jessica Elmore, David Bonin, Shelby Wardrop, Jay Lohmann and Taylor and Eric Skoby; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Freedom United Methodist Church or Freedom EMS and Fire Department.
