August 6, 1984 - May 15, 2020

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Aaron Joshua Perks, a beloved and cherished son, brother, uncle and friend, on May 15, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 35 years, 9 months and 9 days.

His family, friends and loved ones will gather at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the Bible Baptist Church, where Pastor John Clapp will officiate the Memorial Service. A graveside service will follow at the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Aaron Joshua Perks, son of Roy Earl and Susan Darlene (Abbott) Perks, was born August 6, 1984, in Kiowa, Kansas. He timed his arrival into this world with precision. He came in with a whirlwind and lived life with that exuberance until the day he passed. On the day he was born even the windstorm that wracked Alva wasn't enough to quiet his proud PaPa, who told everyone he met about his new pride and joy, his bouncing baby boy.

Josh's youth was filled to the brim with wild adventure. Living life, untamable, Josh was a shining light in dark times and a firecracker in happy ones. He graduated from Alva High School with the Class of 2004 alongside a long list of dear friends and leaving behind a longer line of broken hearts.

He worked several jobs during his life, expressing his varied passions in every imaginable way never settling, always attempting to satiate his immense thirst for new adventures. He was particularly proud of his time as an explosive specialist in the oilfield, which was probably the only work befitting his personality and zest for life.

Josh committed his life to Christ one morning as a child during Vacation Bible School and again on December 27, 2014, at the Bible Baptist Church in Alva, where he attended worship services most of his life.

He loved to work on and ride motorcycles, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was always the center of any excitement. His immense love for life was matched only by his unending love for his nephews. He took much pride in teaching them how to find joy and create joy every moment of every day.

Befitting his desire to experience all the best treasures of life, and in accordance to his wishes, he blessed the lives of many more even after his passing as an organ donor.

Aaron Joshua Perks, of Alva Oklahoma, is survived by his devoted parents, Roy and Darlene Perks also of Alva; his beloved sister, Sarah Murrow and her husband, Derek, of Hardtner, Kansas; his doting grandmother, Olla Mae Abbott of Attica, Kansas; three adoring nephews, Cash Tomberlin, Cody Tomberlin, and Carter Murrow, all of Hardtner; He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and admirers.

The world is a little dimmer without his light, his humor, and his sly sparkling smile. He is loved and he will be missed.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
