Funeral services for Lyndell Howell will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2022, at the Alva United Methodist Church with Pastor Katie Hill officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. There will be a visitation with family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Marshall Funeral Home.

Lyndell Joan Howell, daughter of the late Ferman Clarence and Edith Mae (Baker) Shepherd, was born November 26, 1940, at Shattuck, Oklahoma, and passed away October 26, 2022, at Alva, Oklahoma, on her 60th wedding anniversary, at the age of 81 years and 11 months.

Lyndell attended school and graduated from Shattuck High School. She then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University graduating with a bachelor's degree in education.

On October 26, 1962, she was united in marriage to Walter Marion Howell in Catesby, Oklahoma. To this marriage two children were born, Scott and Kristi. She was a member of the Alva United Methodist Church where she and Marion made their home and raised their family. She was an avid basketball fan, rarely missing a NWOSU or Goldbug game. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished time spent with her family.

Besides her parents, Ferman and Edith, Lyndell was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law Joan Nelson and Jean Wunschel.

Lyndell is survived by her husband of 60 years, Marion, of Alva; her son, Scott Howell and wife, Valerie, of Perry; her daughter, Kristi Decker and husband, Shawn, of Alva; her brother, Don Shepherd and wife, Bonnie, of Shattuck; three grandchildren, Heath Howell and Hadley Howell of Perry, and Cameryn Decker of Alva; in-laws, Tom Howell of Alva, Erlene and Dr. Dennis Morehart of Enid, and Forrest Nelson of Alva; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer's research or the Catesby Methodist Church. Remembrances may be shared with the family at http://www.marshallfuneralhomes.com.
