ENID - The funeral for Henry Dean Evans, 82, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. today, Jan. 23, 2010, at Alva Church of God. Pastor Bob Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery . Arrange-ments are by Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.

He was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Alva to Walter Melvin and Wilma Ada Brace Evans and died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, in Clinton.

He attended West Point School before graduating from Waynoka High School. He then served in the Army, stationed in Japan.

He married Erlene Marie Coulter Oct. 10, 1953, in Waynoka. They lived in Alva, where he worked as a carpenter for Henson Construction, Egner Construction and Dan Evans Construction.

He was a member of Alva Church of God, past commander and life member of Alva Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2847 and Waynoka Saddle Club.

Surviving are his wife, Erlene, of Alva; one son, Melvin Ray Evans of Alva; one daughter, Carolyn Jean Evans of Alva; one brother, Lester Evans; and two sisters, Norma Wilhite and Edith Haight.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

July 31, 1936 - November 6, 2019

Funeral services for Erlene Marie Evans will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at the Alva Church of God with Rev. Bob Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

There will be a visitation with the family from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2019, at the funeral home.

Erlene Marie Evans, daughter of the late Orval and Lu Addie (Barr) Coulter, was born July 31, 1936, in Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away November 6, 2019, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 6 days.

Erlene attended Waynoka Schools. On November 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to Henry Dean Evans in Waynoka. They lived in Kansas for a short time before moving to Alva in the mid 1950s.

She was a member of the Alva Church of God and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing games.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Evans; her daughter, Carolyn Jean Evans; one brother, Carol Coulter; and one sister, La Wanda Smith.

Erlene is survived by her son, Melvin Ray Evans and wife, Sherry, of Alva; her grand dog, Romeo; her sisters-in-law; her brother-in-law; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Church of God or Beadles Nursing Home activity fund.
