Drake Albert Eugene CHAFFIN

Alva Cemetery

Funeral services for Drake Albert Eugene Chaffin will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, at the Bible Baptist Church, with Pastor John Clapp officiating. Interment will follow at Alva Municipal Cemetery.

Drake Albert Eugene Chaffin, son of Dustin Patrick Levi Chaffin and Jennifer Kathleen (Scribner) Mackey, was born on August 20, 2007, in Enid and passed away at his home in Alva on December 22, 2022, in his mother's arms.

Drake spent his whole life in Alva, surrounded by a large number of family members, including his stuffed dog Moxicillan who served as his partner in crime, accompanying him to every doctor's appointment, surgery, and procedure. Some of Drake's other favorite things were soft blankets, slinkies, going for rides, and music - especially while jamming out with his sisters. He loved being outside and discovered he was quite the skilled fisherman once.

Rocking back and forth gave him comfort. Drake would rock, don an ornery grin while giving his mom the side eye and make a specific sound, "Zu.. Zu.. Zu," gestures she recognized as her son's way of saying, "I love you." Drake shared this unique communication with those closest to him to convey his love. That love, as well as his innocence, strength and courage, will always be remembered.

Besides his family, Drake loved the sunshine. He would bask in the warm rays from the windows, where he would playfully leave slobbery handprints. He liked different textures, especially experiencing them with his feet. He hated shoes and all but demanded to be barefoot every day to enjoy the feel of the earth on the soles of his feet or to paint with his toes and fingers.

Drake is survived by his mother, Jennifer [Scribner] Mackey, stepfather Michael, and sisters Mackenzie, Brooklyn, and Taylor [Mackey], all of Alva; grandparents Grace and Jerry Scribner of Alva; Doug and Susan Chaffin of Alva; grandparents Clara (Mackey) Brock and Steve, of Wichita, Kansas, Georgina Walsh of Forgan, Oklahoma; great-grandparents Jim and Cleo Scribner of Alva; great-great grandfather James Scribner of Alva;

Drake was blessed with an extensive family that included seven grandparents, five great-grandparents, two great-great-grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and thirteen very special cousins.

Arrangements are entrusted to Marshall Funeral Homes of Alva.

Those wishing to contribute to a love fund for Drake may do so through the funeral home or Community Bank. In addition, remembrances may be shared with the family at http://www.marshallfuneralhomes.com.
