Alva Cemetery


Alva – the funeral for James Dudley Brown, 69, will be 2 PM Thursday in College Hill Church of Christ. Jay Tyree, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel.

He was born October 15, 1932, near Wilson to Carra Lou Cudd and Charles Warren Brown and died Monday, January 21, 2002 at St. Mary's Eegional Medical Ctr., Enid.

He graduated from Wilson high school in 1950. On October 17, 1951, he enlisted into the Air Force, serving as a military policeman in Japan. On October 16, 1955, he was discharged at Tinker Air Force Base. He married Jeanette Storie on January 14, 1957, in Arkansas City, Kansas. They lived in a Wichita, Kansas, then Post, Texas, where he operated a car dealership. In 1967 they moved to Everett, Washington. He opened an accounting business. In August 1970, they moved to Alva. He opened the Taco Village in 1972. He was a member of College Hill Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanette of the home; four daughters, Kendra Honda, Risa Harris, Tyler Brown and Rona Johnson, all of Alva; one sister, Beth Barta of Kermit, Texas; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ Bible Chair, Alva Education Foundation or American Diabetes Association.
