David Arther Whyburn, 58, passed away unexpectedly at his home July 31, 2012 in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Waterloo Road Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma with Rev. Griff Henderson officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Corn Mennonite Brethern Cemetery, Corn, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Thursday until 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, Guthrie, Oklahoma.

He was Born November 30, 1953 to Jack and Minnie Mae Whyburn in Waco, Texas.

David grew up on the Buckner Boys Ranch, where his father was the administrator and pastor in Burnett, Texas. He graduated from Burnet High School in 1972. He received a bachelor of science degree in 1976 from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

In 1997 he became the call central manager for Convergys Corporation, followed by the director of Communications Service for the Deaf both located in Lubbock, Texas. In 2007 he joined Star Tech team in Big Springs, Texas and in 2009 he transfered to Star Tech in Enid, Oklahoma as the site director.

He married Kim Snider on May 29, 2010 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Lance Whyburn and one daughter, Angela Whyburn, both of Dallas, Texas; a stepdaughter, Dannielle Niewald and husband Harry, Honolulu, Hawaii; his parents, Jack and Minnie Mae Whyburn, Marble Falls, Texas, one sister, Lynn Clarke and husband, Jim, Austin, Texas; one brother, Billy Whyburn, Robert Lee, Texas; two grandchildren,
Quade and Addie Niewald; two nephews, Justin and Tanner Clark, Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Memorials may be made to the Jack and Minnie Mae Whyburn Presidential Scholarship Fund at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas with the funeral home acting as custodian. Memorials may be sent c/o Hayes Funeral Home, 117 E. Noble, Guthrie, OK 73044.
