Earlene Botchlet was born October 29, 1914, on the family farm 16 miles east of Cordell, to Sam Killer and Inez Young Killer. She died March 30, 2004, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 10 days.

She married G. L. "Jiggs" Botchlet April 15, 1933, in Cordell. They had one daughter, Juanita Botchlet Wham.

Earlene and Jiggs worked side by side in their business, including Jiggs Cage Eggs and Jiggs Smoked Turkeys, until her retirement at age 62.

Earlene was a faithful Christian and Bible scholar, attending 4th & College Church of Christ until she and Jiggs moved to Elk City in 2002 to be near Juanita and Don. She then attended Elk City United Methodist Church with her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Leroy Killer and his wife, Marie, one sister-in-law, Laverna Doran and her husband, Loyd "Jimmy" Doran, brothers-in-law, Lorell Botchlet, Harley Botchlet and Coy Botchlet.

She is survived by her husband, G. L. "Jiggs" Botchlet of Elk City; daughter, Juanita and husband, Don Wham, of Elk City; grandchildren, Teresa Hinter and husband, Bill, of Chickasha, and Carol Wilson and husband, Bill, of Elk City; great grandchildren, Heather Sutton and husband, Brandon, of Amarillo, Texas, Jon Wilson and wife, Jennifer, of Cordell, Ben Wilson of Elk City, Julie Hintner and Alicia Hintner, of Chickasha; great great grandsons, Jordan and Noah Sutton of Amarillo, Texas; sisters Lorraine Wood of Cordell, and Ann Johnson and husband, Earl, of Weatherford, Texas; brother, Jim Killer of Apache Junction, Arizona; brother and sister-in-law, Layle and Elda Botchlet of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Joy Botchlet of Davis, Ira Dean Botchlet of Cordell, Wanza Botchlet Barrett of Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Memorials may be made to Cordell Christian Home in Cordell or Elk City United Methodist Church music ministry. Funeral services for Earlene Botchlet will be held at 4th & College Church of Christ in Cordell on Friday, April 2, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. Bill Oden will officiate.

Burial will follow in Lawnview Cemetery, under the direction of McClure Funeral Home.

G. L. "Jiggs" Botchlet, son of Harley L. and Ethel (Duggins) Botchlet, was born February 5, 1914, in Washita County near Dill City. He departed this life September 19, 2004, in Elk City at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 14 days.

He was united in marriage to Earlene Killer April 15, 1933, at Cordell. To this union one daughter was born.

Jiggs became a Christian at an early age and was a member of the 4th and College Church of Christ.

Very active in the community, Jiggs was an original board member of Cordell Christian Home, served on the hospital board and participated in Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club and Pioneer Day Parades.

Preceding him in death were his parents; stepfather A. G. "Daddy Butch" Jones; four brothers, Layle, Lorell, Harley, and Coy; sister, LaVerna Doran; and his wife of nearly 71 years, Earlene, on March 30, 2004.

Survivors include his daughter, Juanita and husband Don Wham of Elk City; two granddaughters, Teresa and husband Bill Hintner of Chickasha, and Carol and husband Bill Wilson of Elk City; five great grandchildren, Heather Sutton and husband, Brandon, Jon Wilson and wife, Jennifer, Ben Wilson and wife, Wendie, Julie Phillips and husband, George, and Alicia Hintner; six great grandchildren, Jordan and Noah Sutton, Aston, Ryan and Taylor Musick, and Colin Jencks; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elda Botchlet, Wanza Botchlet Barrett, Joy Botchlet, Ira Dean Botchlet, Lorraine Wood, Ann Johnson and husband, Earl, and Jim Keller.

Funeral services for Jiggs Botchlet will be held Wednesday, September 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fourth and College Church of Christ, with Bill Oden and Rex Herran officiating.

Interment, under the direction of McClure Funeral Home, will follow in Lawnview Cemetery.
