Mary Jane (Sparks) Cox

Mary Jane Cox was born November 23, 1953 in Sumter, South Carolina to Minnie Lou and Page Albert Sparks. She passed away May 6, 2015 at Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 13 days.

Mary grew up moving around the United States while her father was in the U.S. Air Force. She spent her high school years in Lawton, Oklahoma graduating from Lawton Eisenhower in 1972. After graduation, she began attending college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she met and was eventually married to Terry Dean Cox at Dill City, Oklahoma on February 3, 1973. Mary and Terry made their home in Dill City, Oklahoma where she ran a childcare service and was a stay-at-home mother until her children began school. She began working for Burns Flat schools as a paraprofessional working with kids with special needs. In 2001 Mary returned to Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she obtained her Bachelors Degree in Accounting in 2004. She was hired by Brittan, Kuykendall & Miller CPA's and continued until present. Mary enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren, cooking at Falls Creek, being the assistant song leader and teaching the kindergarten class at church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Chester and Marie Cox, 1 sister, Patty Page Bookout and maternal and paternal grandparents, Arthur and Frances Choat and Evan and Illa Sparks.

She is survived by her husband, Terry, of the home; 2 children, Mary Brianne Madden and husband, Micheal, Norman, OK and James R. Cox and wife, Jennifer, Dill City, OK; 5 grandchildren, Teddy Dean Madden, Blakely Brandt, Bryson Madden, Trevor Teague and Carson Cox; 3 sisters, Brenda Allen and husband, Michael, Dill City, OK, Tammy Johnson and husband, Terry, Dill City, OK and Carrie Sparks, Weatherford, OK; step mother, Betty Sparks and a host of step brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends.
