Maxine Griggs, lifelong Bartlesville resident, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018. She was blessed with a large and loving family who will miss her greatly.

Maxine Joyce Griggs was born Aug. 11, 1941 in Bartlesville to Floyd Samuel and Margaret Louise (Richesin) Whitchurch. Maxine attended and graduated from Bartlesville Public Schools. She married Freddie DeRay Griggs on Aug. 18, 1961 in Miami, OK.

Maxine was a full-time homemaker, caring for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, playing video games and baking delicious cakes and pies. To say the least, she was an avid OU football fan. She was very protective of her siblings, especially her only brother Dick. But the purest joy in her life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Maxine is survived by her children: Karen Gallegos (Rick) of Bartlesville, Cheryl Sharp (Jason) of Pryor, Sam Griggs (Gale) of Bartlesville, and Cindy Burrows of Bartlesville; her brother Richard “Dick” Whitchurch (Judy) and sister Sandra Bridendolph, all of Bartlesville. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years Freddie, daughter Dixie Griggs and sister Sue Colee.

Visitation will be from noon – 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel, 4201 Nowata Rd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 at Spirit Church – West, 900 S. Dewey Ave., Bartlesville, OK 74003, with Pastor Ike Amaro officiating.

Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel.
