Mr. James Pete Gray was born January 28, 1938 at home in a rural setting in southeast Washington County to Reverend James Ben and Faith Gray. He was the sixth child of a family of 14 siblings. Pete passed from this life Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the age of 78 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Pete's childhood consisted of many activities, being from a large family, including picking lots of cotton, milking cows, etc. He attended school at Bartlesville College High, worked for Sandusky Cleaners.

Pete started his 'newspaper' career in 1955 at The Examiner Enterprise, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He spent years as a Linotype Operator, Camera Room Supervisor and Production Manager. Pete retired June 2000, completing almost 45 years at one company.
While living in Guthrie, Oklahoma, he met, courted and married Carolyn Sue Donald September 21, 1959. They remained married for 49 years. And then she went to heaven. One of the happiest days was when they received their son Michael into their lives.
Throughout Pete's life, he was a faithful church member, strong faith and the power of prayer. He was a kind and humble person

Pete is preceded in death by his parents, James Ben and Faith Gray, his wife Carolyn Sue Gray, two sisters, Marjorie Stone, Wanda Capps and 1 baby brother, Tommy Glenn Gray.

He is survived by one son, Michael David Gray and his wife, Kelly Susanne Gray, and 3 grandchildren, Ashley, age 20, Hope, 19, Dakota, 17; 6 brothers, Jack, Bill, Ted, Don, Charles and Wes Gray and 4 sisters, Nadine Roberts, Louise Murray, Mary Hilton and Sue Drew and many other cousins, nieces and nephews, etc.

The Gray family will receive guests Tuesday, March 1, 2016 6- 8 pm at Stumpff Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 1 pm at New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory
