Our beloved mother, Retha Coeata Buckwalter passed away at the age of 79 on April 26, 2025, surrounded by her children. We are heartbroken to lose someone so special. She was a wonderful woman who will be deeply missed.
Retha was born on June 21, 1945, to Emery Bacon and Laura Rose Thomas Sickler in Ramona, Oklahoma.
Retha enjoyed camping and traveling, crappie fishing and dancing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching her family perform country music to nursing home residents and festivals.
Retha was a member of Oglesby Assembly of God where she attended with Pappa Jay for many years.
Retha believed in the Lord and proactive her faith everyday with her acts of kindness to others and supporting her family in their walk of faith.
Retha was married to Carl Taton on February 24, 1961. Retha later married Jim Buckwalter, and Jay "Papa Jay" Kiado.
Retha is survived by her children, Edward Dean Taton, Dora Denise Haywood and her husband Glen, Questa Sue Cross and her husband Richard, Tresa Jean Carney and her husband Keith. Grandchildren, Amber Nicole Cross and J.D. Crabtree, Jared Dean Cross and Natasha Stringer, Jordan Leigh Gonzalez and her husband Joel Gonzalez, Adam James Carney, Andrew Corbin Carney, Mattew Allan Haywood. Great Grandchildren, Alexis Rose Crabtree, Harper Grace Crabtree, Alexandria Cross, Isaiah Dean Cross, James Rafael Gonzalez. Her siblings; Connie Deal and husband David Deal of Caney Kansas, and her brother Joe Sickler of Helena Montana, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Retha was preceded in death by her husband Carl Taton, Jim Buckwalter, and her special friend "Papa Jay" Kiado, brothers Ed Bacon and David Bacon.
Funeral services will be on May 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Oglesby Assembly of God. Interment will be at the Tyner Cemetery in Oglesby following the service.
There will be a viewing for anyone who wishes to remember and pay their respects to Retha at Stumpff Funeral Home, Bartlesville on May 5, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
