Marilyn Sue Gailey
September 23, 1942 - January 13, 2026

Marilyn Gailey passed away on January 13, 2026 at her home. She was surrounded by family.

Marilyn was born on September 23, 1942 in Rural Dewey, OK at the family home. She attended and graduated Dewey schools. Upon graduation of H.S. she attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah OK. There she met the love of her life Jesse Robert Gailey. They were married at Dewey First Baptist Church on June 16, 1962. They made their first home in Tulsa, OK where Jesse worked. In 1966, they moved to the family home in Ochelata where she and Jess resided until their deaths. She was employed by Totah Telephone Company, Inc. and its subsidiary Images Cablevision. Due to her Arthritis, she took medical disability and later retired from Totah. Marilyn and Jess had 3 sons, Mark, Matthew, and Michael. Marilyn loved her family, community and church. She was a member of Ochelata Baptist Church. She supported youth sports, Caney Valley Schools, and many other activities. Until she was unable, she loved traveling the world with Jess. She attended St. Louis Cardinals games and many events in which her children and grandchildren were participating. She was honored by the Oklahoma Telephone Association being inducted in its Hall of Fame.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jess, her parents, Cyril and Bertha Mitchell, Her sister Joyce Marie Mitchell, Brother Charles Mitchell, Sister Jo Ellen Liston, and grand-daughter Tallie Gailey. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law. Mark and Angie Gailey, Matthew and Kim Gailey both of Ochelata, and Michael and Jada of Stillwater, OK, 9 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing make a donation to the Ochelata Baptist Church general fund.

She will be laid to rest with Jess at the Ochelata Cemetery.
