George Leon Workman, age 79 and longtime resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at 9:44 PM at his home.

George was born on January 19, 1937 in Ulysses, Kansas to Charles E. and Viola A. (Smith) Workman. He received his early education in Ulysses before going to Boys Town in Nebraska at the age of 13. He came to Bartlesville after leaving Boys Town.
At the age of 18, George joined the U.S. Army, serving with the 802nd Field Artillery, 7th Army stationed in Niom, Germany. Upon returning home in 1958, he served in the standby reserves until May 31, 1963, when he received his Honorable Discharge.
George married Carolyn June Dunkle on November 10, 1961 in Miami, Oklahoma. He worked for Wiegman Vanhorn, Obermier Tree Service, Dunkle Pemco Station, Workman Sanitation and the City of Bartlesville.
George was a member of the Red Cross Emergency Team, Caney Valley CB Club and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the home; one daughter, Lisa A. Medlin of Dewey, Oklahoma; two sons, Michael L. Workman of Bartlesville and Kenny J. Workman and his wife, Kerri, of Dewey; six grandchildren, Aubree Medlin and her husband, Dale Bohannan, Kandis J. Magana and her husband, Tommy, Keshia M. Spears and her husband, Jack, Kenmon C. Workman, Natashia R. Workman, and Dalton R. Shrum; eight great grandchildren, DaveeJo, Gavin, Hartison, Cayden, Aunaliese, Mason, Camilyn and Ensley.

George was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Charles E. Workman, Jr., James D. Workman, Howard D. Workman, Paul J. Workman, Raymond A. Workman and an unnamed infant brother; and 11 sisters, Mary M. Perrin, Myrle Sanders, Anna Mendenhall, Lena Gilchrist, Ruby Drake, Genevive Piehler, Barbara Wellington, Wahnetta Davis and triplets, Ilene, Alene and Irene Workman.

In memory of George, the family suggests giving to Disabled American Veterans.
Come and go visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 5, at 1:00 PM, in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
