John Thomas Wade, Jr., 85, of Duncan, Okla., died Sunday, October 8, 2006, in Duncan. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006 at the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. John McGarey officiating. Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bartlesville, Okla., with Dr. Will Carl officiating.
John was born on Oct. 23, 1920 in Bartlesville, Okla. to John Thomas, Sr. and Mattie [Cooper] Wade. He married Thelma Lea Parker on Feb. 12, 1944 in the Old Post Chapel at Ft. Sill, Okla.
John was a Bartlesville High School graduate, class of 1939. He joined the United States Army in 1943 and was a veteran of World War II. He received an honorable discharge on Jan. 14, 1946.
John worked for Phillips Petroleum 38 years, retiring on Feb. 1, 1985. He was a longtime member of and ordained elder at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville, and had been a member of First Presbyterian Church in Duncan since 2000.
Survivors include his wife Thelma, of the home, two daughters, LCMR (Ret.) Debra J. Wade of Duncan, and Dawn J. McVay and her husband Edmund of McKenny, Texas, two granddaughters, Dr. Kimberly Dawn Hagan and husband Chase of Allen, Texas and Sara Ann McVay of McKinney.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Aleta Emmitt, Loeta Sanders, Tommie Brians an Pauline Bullington.
