Shirley Lee (Lentz) Tayrien

Shirley Lee Tayrien, 66, of Bartlesville died on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at her home following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Casket escorts will include Cody Werth, Andrew Werth, Jarrod Tayrien, Sam Werth, Jeremiah Karr, Wesley Barnhart, Justin Barnhart and Seth Tayrien.
The Tayrien family will receive guests for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to: St. Jude's Children's Fund, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908.
Shirley was born August 17, 1946 in Columbia, Tennessee, daughter of Fred Lentz and Ruth Rogers Lentz. Shirley spent her younger years in Tennessee. Her father, Fred passed away when Shirley was only 4 years old. In 1952, her mother married John Kurowski. After many years of moving around to find work, the family was transferred to Bartlesville. Shirley graduated from College High in 1966 and went to work at Phillips 66 as a key punch operator. In 1967, Shirley met Don Tayrien and they were married June 19, 1968. After many years of being transferred to different locations for work, Don and Shirley moved back to Bartlesville where they raised their three children. Shirley spent her life being a homemaker, wife, and loving mother. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, painting, reading, playing softball, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley will be remembered by many for her delicious home cooking during the time she spent helping her mother Ruth Kurowski at Ruth's Country Kitchen and during the brief time she owned Ruth's Country Cooking.
Mrs. Tayrien is survived by her husband, Don E. Tayrien of Bartlesville, one son, Randy Tayrien of Bartlesville, two daughters, Belinda Werth of Wichita, Kansas and Jamie Tayrien-Shuey of Grove, two step sons, Todd Tayrien and Troy Tayrien both of Wichita, Kansas, her mother, Ruth Kurowski of Bartlesville, two brothers, Freddie Lentz of Conway, Arkansas and John Kurowski of Satellite Beach, Florida, two sisters, Janice Karr and Connie Bottenfield both of Bartlesville, and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Lentz and her step father, John Kurowski.
