Mr. Hyatt J. Stamper, 85, of Bartlesville, died Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Bartlesville.

Funeral services for Mr. Stamper will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the Stumpff funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg McNall of the Sooner Park Wesleyan Church officiating.

Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Stamper was born at Plainville, Kansas on July 5, 1932 the son of Frank Edward and Lydia E. (Meier) Stamper. He lived on the family farm and it was there that a neighbor taught him to fly an airplane. He attended school in Plainville and later entered the U.S. Navy in 1950. He served in San Diego, California and Mare Island in Vallejo, California where he worked putting submarines in commission. Following his Honorable Discharge, he and his family returned to the family farm in Kansas. They later moved to Bartlesville where he was employed with the Terrell Taylor Construction Company for 14 years. He was married to Oneta Davis in Bartlesville in 1986 and they have made their home here since that time. In the 1960’s he was a recording artist for Sully Records and he loved to sing country gospel music in churches. He and Mrs. Stamper were members of the Gold Wing Riders Association and were also members of the Oklahoma Kit Car Club and had built their own kit car. He also enjoyed meeting with their morning fellowship group at McDonalds and he had a passion for dogs.

Mr. Stamper is survived by his wife, Oneta Stamper, one daughter, Risa Harvell of Miami, Okla., a step daughter, Denise Robinson and husband Phil of Cabot, Arkansas, a step son, Phillip Davis of Berea, Kentucky, and three grandchildren, Shelby Glover and husband D.J., Kaitlyn Davis and Samuel Robinson and wife Stephanie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Shirley Holiday and a son, Randy Stamper.

The family suggests memorial donations to the Washington County SPCA, 16620 State Highway 123, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.
