Carolyn lived her life on three principles in priority order: God, Family, and Work. Keep life in that order and never mix them up. Carolyn was born May 2, 1942, at her family home in Grainola, OK, to Dietrich and Marie Oestmann. She graduated high school in Shidler, OK, then married her sweetheart Ed Savage in September 1960. Upon Ed’s college graduation, they made their home in Bartlesville. She served the Lord as an active member at Redeemer Lutheran Church, loved family and friends unconditionally, and positively impacted lives with her servant heart. She was known to be the first one to welcome guests and new members at church. Carolyn’s most treasured blessing was her family. She and Ed provided a strong spiritual foundation in a Christ-centered home to create solid family bonds. Many life lessons were taught through the mountains and valleys of life experiences and they always encompassed Faith, Hope, and Love. A loving mother and homemaker, Carolyn was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. After the children were in middle school, she worked at Brightside Café, Tuxedo Restaurant, and United Jewelers. Her favorite workplace was at Russ Rogers Chevrolet where she made many life-long friends, especially Rusty Rogers whom she considered family. Carolyn enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, gardening, square dancing, bowling, chicken picnics, cross word puzzles, and was a Scrabble Queen!

Carolyn is survived by two sons, Ken Savage and wife Karen of Rudy AR, Jeff Savage of Bristow OK; one daughter, Susan Riden and husband James of Edmond OK; four sisters, Pat Durheim and husband Bud, Henrietta Swarthout, Dorothy Gilbreath and husband Jack, and Barbara Weintz and husband Bill; six adored grandchildren she called her Monkeys, Monkey #1 Kendra Savage-Lopez and husband Pedro Lopez, Monkey #2 Ashley Welchel and husband Taylor, Monkey #3 Randall Savage and significant other Heather Kelley, Monkey #4 Michael Wilkinson and fiancé Tanner Wapaha, Monkey #5 Rebecca Romine and husband Tyler, Monkey #6 Kurt “Wes” Savage; four great-grandchildren, Brantley Welchel, Hunter Welchel, Brooklynn Savage, and Paisley Savage; two sisters-in-law, Linda Lady and husband Don of Ponca City, OK, Dena Miller and husband Joe of Davenport, OK; close friend of 57 years Nancy Lewis, long-time friends Rusty Rogers and Barbara Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
