Ruth C. Palmer, of Grove, OK passed from this
life on February 20, 2018 in Joplin, MO at the
age of 90 years.
Ruth was born on December 22, 1927 in Medford,
Oklahoma to Rudolph Felix Ratzlaff and Mary Ada
(Smythe Edwards) Ratzlaff. Ruth attended college
at East Central University in Ada, OK.
On June 20, 1948 Ruth married Rhame P. Wood in
the First Methodist Church, Ada, OK. Rhame was
attending dental school at The University of
Kansas City School of Dentistry in Kansas City,
MO. Ruth worked as a teller at a bank in Kansas
City while Rhame attended school. Upon Rhame's
graduation in 1951, they moved to Nowata, OK,
where Rhame entered private practice. In 1962
the family moved to Bartlesville, OK. Ruth and
Rhame were members of the First Baptist Church
of Bartlesville for many years. Ruth enjoyed
being an active member of the Bartlesville
Garden Club. Ruth and Rhame were divorced on
June 30th, 1988.
Ruth married Loren L. Palmer on August 7, 1993,
in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Loren is a retired
Industrial Arts instructor who taught at
colleges in Utah and New Mexico. Loren is also a
World War II Army veteran who was responsible
for medical supply duties.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Dr.
Rhame Wood, and two brothers Jack and Jerry
Ratzlaff.
She is survived by her loving husband, Loren
Palmer. She is survived by her four children:
Dr. Carol Caraway of Indiana, PA, Mark Wood of
Grove, OK, Rhande Wood of Weatherford, TX, and
Dr. Khem Wood of Miami, OK. Three step-children
include Loren's sons: Glenn Palmer of Utah, Gary
Palmer of MO, and Gail Palmer of Colorado. Also
several step-grandchildren of the sons. One
sister: Barbara Moore of Paul's Valley, OK.
Three grandchildren: Robert Wood, Leigh Wood &
William Wood. One great-grandchild Craven
Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on
Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Nichols
Funeral Chapel in Grove.
A brief graveside
service will be held at the Memorial Park
Cemetery, Bartlesville, OK at 2:00 P.M. on
Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
