STUMPFF FUNERAL HOME
BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Gary Richard Norris, 79, of Bartlesville passed away in January 2021.

He was born in Medford, Massachusetts on December 27, 1941, to Katharine and Gordon Norris. He served as a sergeant, sharpshooter and cook in the Army while stationed in South Korea in the mid-1960’s. After his service, he completed training at the Water and Wastewater Technical School, and graduated in Applied Science at Crowder College of Neosho, MO. He worked in a variety of capacities in wastewater treatment in Iowa, and then relocated to Bartlesville in the mid-1990’s as the superintendent of the City of Bartlesville’s wastewater treatment plant, where he retired in 2004. He then continued his passions for walking, bird watching and religious studies in Florida and Oklahoma.

He is survived by his two children, Christopher Norris and Patricia Chambers of Tampa, FL, and brother David (Vicky) Norris of Schuykill Haven, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A small private gravesite ceremony will be held for family and close friends in Bartlesville at Memorial Park Cemetery on Wednesday, January 27 at 2 p.m., hosted by Stumpff Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to his devoted charities, to include local Bartlesville food pantries, NPR affiliate KOSU radio, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
