(permission granted)

Mildred Glenice Gilchrist Mantz met her Savior Lord Jesus on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Heritage Villa Nursing Center, Bartlesville, OK.

She and her twin Sister, Margaret Gladys, were born July 28, 1917, in Liberal, Kansas, to John and Lula Caudle Gilchrist. Her early years were spent in southern Texas before moving near Enterprise, Kansas, were she graduated from the Seventh-Day Adventist Academy. The twins entertained the public by singing and playing guitar on the radio. They had the honor of singing on a Presidential Election Campaign Train.
While attending the Academy, she met the love of her life, Elmer E Mantz, and they married July 3, 1936, in Hutchison, KS. Their only child Vernon Lee Mantz was born November 27, 1937. Elmer served in the Army during World War II while Mildred worked making Camp stoves for the military. They moved to Joplin and later to Garden Grove, CA, where Mildred worked at the Seventh-Day Adventist General Conference. In 1965 they moved to Bartlesville, OK, where they created the Mantz Egg Farm selling to local stores and restaurants. Mildred served her church as Sabbath School children's teacher for approximately 30 years. Her love for children lasted her whole life long. After Elmer died, she opened a Day Care Center.

She is survived by two Grandchildren, Elmer E Mantz II, and Michelle Mantz Burr. Great Grandchildren are Jeffery West, Amanda West, Joshua Fabri and Morgan Wahnee, two nieces Kathleen D. Cunningham and Mary Breggs. Her dear best friends were "adopted" Grandson, Matthew Kirchman and Brad Owen. Mildred was called Grandma by many. She was dearly loved.

Preceded in death were her parents, all her siblings, beloved husband, Elmer and her loving Son Vernon and wife Patsy Mantz.

Services will be held Friday June 3, 2016, 3pm, at Stumpff Funeral Home.
