James Allen Lytle, 84, resident of Bartlesville, died Friday, August 10, 2012 in Bartlesville.
A private graveside funeral service was held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Memorial Park Cemetery, in Bartlesville with Rev. Charles McKnight officiating. Interment was under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
The son of James and Catherine (Wilcoxson) Lytle, James was born July 18, 1928, in Neosho, Missouri. He began working for Phillips Petroleum in 1948 and worked there four years before enlisting into the US Army. On June 4, 1950, James married his Prom Queen, Betty Louise Roberts, in Dewey, Oklahoma. In 1954, after serving his country, he resumed working for Phillips Petroleum as a Chemist retiring after more than thirty years of employment. Jim spent many years coaching youth baseball and basketball. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Dewey and enjoyed golfing, fishing and relaxing in the cabin he built on Grand Lake.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Catherine Lytle.
He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Betty, of the home; two sons, Lynn Lytle and his wife, Debra, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Toby Lytle and his wife, Lisa, of Bartlesville; one brother, John and his wife, Audrey, of Lawrence, Kansas; four grandchildren, Pat, Andy, Megan and Kennedy; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Sophie, Claire, Austin and Cooper; one niece, Margie; two nephews, John and Jason.
