Bill Eugene Loffer

Mr. Bill Eugene Loffer, 91, resident of Bartlesville died Monday evening, July 23, 2012 at the Heritage Villa Nursing Center.
Graveside services for Mr. Loffer will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday at the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dale Scott officiating and under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory c/o the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 801 S.E. Washington Blvd. Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
Mr. Loffer was born on February 10, 1921 at Eugene Oregon to Glen Jackson and Ida Mae (Fletcher) Loffer. He grew up and recieved his education at Eureka, California where he graduated High School in 1939. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942, and served as a pilot in World War II in the Army Air Corp. 455th Bomb group, 15th Air Force; flying B-24's for over 50 missions, returning with his 11 man crew intact. His service medals included the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Distinguished Flying Cross, and later the Greek Service Medal. His battles and campaigns were flying in Rome-Arno, Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 31, 1945, and served in the reserves, retiring as Captain in March of 1962.
Mr. Loffer was married to the former Beverly A. Brandt on November 30, 1944 at Coffeyville, Kansas, and they made their home in various places, including Ft. Worth, Texas, California and Independence Kansas until coming to Bartlesville in 1953, where he began his working career at Phillips Petroleum Company, at the research Center, where he worked for 32 years, until his retirement in 1985. He was a Charter member of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, and had served as an elder there for a number of years, and on other boards and committees. He was also a member of the Bartlesville American Legion James H. Teel Post #105, of which will be presenting Full Military Honors at the Graveside. and was a member of the Elks Lodge of Bartlesville. His Hobbies included fishing, reading, painting, woodworking, and nature, but he was best described as a family man who loved being with his family.
Mr. Loffer is survived by his wife Beverly A. (Brandt) Loffer of the home, two sons, Ken Loffer of Norman, Oklahoma, and Dr. Raymond J. Loffer and his wife Sandra of Carmel, Indiana, by four grandchildren, Tom Loffer and his wife Torri, Byron Loffer and his wife Rachel, Erin Koehn and her husband Andrew, and Eric Virden Loffer; three great-grandchildren, Noah and Chloe Loffer, and Andrea Koehn. He was preceded in death by his parents Ida Mae and Glen Jackson Loffer, and by his step mother Mildred Brown Loffer, and two great-aunts Fern Fletcher, and Goldie Willis.
Funeral services and interment were under the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory, of Bartlesville.
