STUMPFF FUNERAL HOME
BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Mary Ruth Kurowski, age 96, passed away on September 29, 2017. Ruth was born in Limestone Giles County, Tennessee on July 5, 1921 to Elsie and Ethel (Wilburn) Rogers. She was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church and was saved at an early age.

Ruth had a long, loving life. She had three children with her first husband, Fred Lentz, before she was widowed at a young age. She later married her husband, John Kurowski in Alabama. The couple moved around for a while, until Phillips Corporation transferred them to Bartlesville in 1964, where they ultimately settled down.

Ruth loved her family and loved cooking for them. She owned Ruth's Country Kitchen in Copan, Oklahoma and was in the restaurant business for over twenty years. Her homemade rolls were famous and people drove from miles around to enjoy them.

Ruth loved cooking, gardening, clogging, music, painting, crocheting and enjoyed life to the fullest. She had a true "Southern Living" yard with her beautiful flowers and had a big vegetable garden every year. She played on her company basketball team traveling to various places, played softball and loved all sports.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lentz; husband, John Kurowski; daughter Shirley Lentz Tayrien, her parents Elsie and Ethel Rogers; five brothers and three sisters.

Ruth is survived by her son, Fred Lentz and his spouse Birdie; daughter, Janice Lentz Karr; daughter Connie Kurowski Bottenfield and her spouse Kent; and son, Johnny Kurowski and his spouse Jeff Oliver; her brother, John William Rogers; her sister, Martha Newton; eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held at the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 2 at 2pm and visitation will be Sunday evening from 6pm-8pm.
