Bartlesville - Long time Bartlesville resident, Mayan I. Khan, 94, passed away in his home on Friday, September 24.

Mayan was born in Kandahar, Afghanistan and came to the United States in 1949 to attend the University of Utah. On January 12, 1954, Mayan married Marilyn L. Hart in Estes Park, Colorado, who passed away on June 30, 1971. He was employed by Phillips 66, in Bartlesville, as a geophysicist for 30 years. Along with his former wife, Wanda Bowman, who passed away on October 7, 2000, he also owned and operated Khan Ranch LLC.

Mayan is survived by his son David Hart and his wife, Cheryl, Bartlesville; former wife, Dana Dilley Layton, and their daughter Kayleigh Khan, Bartlesville; his two granddaughters Natalie Hart Flood and her husband Glen, and Kimberly Hart Grove and her husband, Jason; and a great-grandson, Aiden Flood, all of Topeka, Kansas; four brothers Ibrahim Mayan, Aminullah Mayan, Shakrullah Mayan, Sadiqullah Mayan, and one sister, Sahibtaj Nasim; and many nieces and nephews.

Mayan was a true epicurean, as many employees of the local grocery stores and restaurants can attest to, a gemologist, and also an avid chess player. He also loved his family dearly and will forever be missed by everyone he left behind.

Graveside services have taken place at Memorial Park Cemetery; however, a memorial service is planned for Sunday, October 10, at the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Chapel at 2:00 p.m.

The family asks that masks be worn during the service.

Friends who wish may sign the online guest book and leave condolence at www.stumpff.org.
