BARTLESVILLE EXAMINER-ENTERPRISE
BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Dale Estes Johnson, 76, of Bartlesville, OK passed away peacefully January 5, 2016 surrounded by the love of his family. Services will be at the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 10 at 2 PM with Pastor Joe Colaw of First Wesleyan Church officiating.

Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dale was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri on March 4, 1939 to Elberta Maxine Estes Johnson and Dale Holman Johnson. Upon graduating in 1958 at Center High School in Kansas City, Dale received his higher education at The University of Kansas City with a B.A. in Mathematics and a minor in German.
On June 30, 1960, Dale married his high school sweetheart Janet Elaine Riddle in Prairie Village, Kansas. He started his career as a computer programmer at General Motors in Detroit, Michigan and was very talented in this field. He also worked for Hughes Aircraft Company in Tucson, Arizona, Pizza Hut Corporation in Wichita, Kansas, and Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Janet, daughter Sarah, and grandson Zephaniah.

He is survived by a brother, Gary Holman Johnson, sister Linda Ann Johnson Joyce, two daughters Karen Lynn Johnson and Jill Elizabeth Kramer, granddaughters Shianne Fouts, Sierra Fouts, Savannah Fouts, Sophia Housel, Alyssa Chapman, Ashley Anderson, and Shania Anderson; grandson Sebastian Kramer and son-in-law Randy Kramer.

Dale had a love of books and knowledge and always could be counted on to answer questions about anything and everything! He had a great appreciation for foreign films, documentaries, and old movies and instilled that same love in each of us. He also enjoyed all types of sports; including baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and rugby. His favorite rugby team was The All Blacks and he especially enjoyed The Haka, which they performed. He also had a great appreciation of the arts, cultures around the world, and history. An avid World War II buff, he helped each of us to appreciate the sacrifice our veterans made for our freedom. Dale immensely enjoyed collecting , and some of his many collections included stamps, coins, and baseball cards. We will always remember and cherish his quirky, adorable sense of humor, his loyalty to his family, his amazing mind, and his courage and bravery right to the very end. Clever and witty as always, he liked to end personal emails "To be continued," and perhaps he is saying that to us today. The story of Dale Johnson is not over – we have just turned the page and a new chapter is beginning!
To be continued, Dad – til we meet again!
