Margaret Louise Johnson, 100, of Bartlesville, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026 in Bartlesville.
Margaret Louise Baird Johnson was born April 15, 1926, in El Dorado, Kansas to William L. and Lena Dillehay Baird. She received her schooling in Burns, Kansas and graduated from Burns High School in 1944 and continued her education graduating from Butler County Junior College in 1946 earning a nursing degree. She worked in El Dorado at the Clarks hospital pharmacy. Margaret married Ernest B Johnson on August 24, 1947, in El Dorado, Kansas. They moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1948.
Margaret would often reminisce about her days of growing up in the small town of Burns, Kansas. She always referred to it as a little bit of heaven. She loved to socialize with her friends and so enjoyed playing the clarinet. In high school she competed in Omaha, Nebraska playing the clarinet and did quite well. Margaret was a devoted housewife and mother. Her family was precious to her, and she always made sure they were well taken care of and loved. She enjoyed cooking for family, making sure the house was immaculately clean, and the house was made to feel like a home.
But first and foremost, was her dedication and faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Margaret had numerous friends who adored her. Everyone loved her and wanted to spend time with her because of her kindness, joyful attitude, and love. Margaret had activities she enjoyed participating in which included sewing club and playing bridge with close friends. Margaret was quite the hostess when friends would come to visit. She spent numerous hours volunteering for church events and Bible studies. Margaret loved to play the piano and often helped in elementary children's choir at church.
One of her biggest joys was the addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always very nurturing to them and would love the occasional spoiling of the grandchildren. She was a member of Highland Park, Baptist Church, Bartlesville, Southern Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was also a member of the order of Eastern Star in Bartlesville, Oklahoma Chapter No. 142.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Ernest Johnson, and two daughters-in-law Lisa Johnson and Rhonda Johnson who she loved dearly.
She is survived by her two sons Rodney B. Johnson of Jenks, Oklahoma and Richard M. (Rick) Johnson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Todd Johnson of Jenks, Oklahoma and his wife, Jennifer, Seth Johnson and his wife Rachel of Jenks, Oklahoma. Joya Johnson and her husband Bryan Christie of Grand Rapids Michigan. Caly Johnson of New York, New York. Macy McGeough and her husband Sean of Tulsa, Oklahoma. And in conclusion, four great grandchildren Mic Kelly, Charlie Johnson, Will Johnson, and Rowan Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14th at Bartlesville First Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Walker Brown Chapel.
